‘Stepping Out by Richard Harris’
Directed by Alex Rigg
The Wotton-Under-Edge Dramatic Society are tapping their way to the The Town Hall this coming April, for the up-coming production of the Richard Harris hit comedy, Stepping Out’.
The Society that has been performing for over 90 years are looking forward to performing the play that has been entertaining audiences since the 80s onstage and onscreen with the Liza Minnelli and Julie Walters Paramount Pictures film.
9 women and 1 man find themselves once a week at the local church hall to forget their troubles of everyday working life to try and learn the art of tap dancing!
With a mix of personalities, the stage is brought to life in this funny but touching story of friendship and all the trials and tribulations that a group of people from all walks of life experience. Will the class teacher, Mavis have them shuffle ball changing? Will Mrs Fraser have her sheet music ready? Will Rose stop worrying about her son and start concentrating on her toe heel taps? Is Vera able to stop cleaning the toilets and work on her pickup steps? Is Dorothy able to keep the steps a little smaller? Will Lynne be able to switch off from her day job? Is Geoffrey finally able to speak up? Will there be less chewing gum and more chewing the steps over for Sylvia? Is Maxine finally able to shift a few t-shirts and tights to the ladies? And will Andy find that inner strength?
Come and find out, grab yourself a ticket to the comedy with many left feet.
