Sharing is Caring

6–9 August | St. John the Baptist Church, Elmore, Gloucestershire

The acclaimed Elmore Festival returns for its sixth year from 6th to 9th  August 2025, bringing four days of world-class chamber music to the stunning 13th-century St.  John the Baptist Church, nestled beside the scenic River Severn in Gloucestershire’s picturesque  countryside.

Held annually in early August, Elmore Festival has grown steadily since its inaugural event in 2020.  That first year saw the festival bravely adapt to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic by  moving outdoors just days before the first concert. Returning indoors to its intended historic  venue in 2021, the festival has blossomed into a prominent fixture on the UK chamber music  calendar, attracting critically acclaimed young musicians and devoted audiences seeking an  intimate and inspiring musical experience.

The 2025 programme features an exciting line up of some of the most talented and celebrated  performers of their generation, including:

  • The multi-award-winning Novo Quartet
  • Violinist Braimah Kanneh-Mason
  • The prize-winning Elmore Quartet
  • Pianist Ben Powell
  • Double bassist Toby Hughes
  • Organist Henry Fairs
  • Clarinetist James Gilbert

The popular Scottie Thompson Jazz Trio, returning for a special jazz evening on 8 August  following their sold-out performance last year.

True to its community spirit, Elmore Festival nurtures emerging talent through workshops,  masterclasses, and showcases involving around 20 local schoolchildren each year — connecting  young musicians with professionals and inspiring the next generation.

In support of young audiences, the festival offers free tickets to all under 25s, encouraging the  next generation to experience world-class chamber music in this unique setting.

The festival is also known for its exceptional hospitality. The Festival Bar, in partnership with  Gloucester’s award-winning Pelican Inn, offers a superb selection of local ciders and freshly  brewed cask ales from the renowned Wye Valley Brewery, just across the river.

Praised as one of Gloucestershire’s hidden cultural gems, Elmore Festival combines historic  charm, artistic excellence, and community engagement to enrich the county’s cultural landscape.  Audience members consistently highlight the warm, welcoming atmosphere alongside the  extraordinary performances — calling it “like having Wigmore Hall on my doorstep” and “a truly  special event to return to year after year.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome audiences back to Elmore Festival for our sixth year. It’s truly special to  bring world-class chamber music to such a beautiful and historic setting, and to watch our  community grow around this event each summer. Our goal has always been to create an intimate  and welcoming atmosphere where both musicians and audiences can connect with the music— and with each other. We’re especially proud of how we nurture young talent through workshops  and masterclasses, helping to inspire the next generation of musicians. This year’s line up is  exceptional, and we can’t wait to share these incredible performances with music lovers from  Gloucestershire and beyond.” — Felix Hughes, Artistic Director, Elmore Festival
