Spread the love

Sadly, on the 31st of October I attended the funeral of our much loved and respected Town Councillor Terry Luker. St Mary’s Church was absolutely crammed with approximately 300 mourners many of whom went onto the service at Westerleigh Crematorium followed by food and drinks at the Star Inn. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jen and his family.

Once again, we had an excellent Remembrance Sunday Parade. It was wonderful to see so many young people amongst those turning out on a wet Sunday morning both to march and to join in with the Act of Remembrance, to remember the service and sacrifice of all those from Britain and its allies that defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

Thank you to everyone who helped plan the event, the Royal British Legion for carrying out the parade, Lesley Hewish and Churches Together, the Police, volunteers, and everyone who supported the Act of Remembrance this year. A special thanks to Jeff Walshe who recorded the ceremony at the War Memorial and has given his permission for us to use his photograph.

Just a quick reminder of Wotton’s Christmas Under The Edge event which is on Saturday 2nd December. Gideon York from the Cotswold Book Shop has taken the job of leading the event this year. If you would like a stall or to volunteer to help at this year’s event, please email christmasundertheedge.com. We look forward to seeing you there.
