The Wotton-under-Edge and Thornbury District Branch of the RNLI is staging another Guest Speaker evening in March – although this time with a slight twist,

To celebrate the RNLI’s bicentenary (also in March) the illustrated talk will be about the RNLI’s 200-year history, and it will be given by John Barnett (Branch Chairman and RNLI Community Presenter).

The event will be held on Thursday 14th March at Renishaw plc, New Mills, GL12 8JR starting at 8.00pm. (Doors will open at 7.30pm)

Entry is by ticket – purchased in advance or reserved for payment on the night.

Tickets are priced £10 and are available from The Cotswold Book Room and the Coventry Building Society (both in Long Street, Wotton-under-Edge).

Alternatively, contact the branch by e-mail at wuernli@gmail.com.

As an RNLI community presenter, John Barnett gives illustrated talks on any aspect of the RNLI (and occasionally a talk on lighthouses) to adult groups. Previous topics have included: the changing role of women in the RNLI over the last 50 years; the (in-house) design, build and quality assurance of the RNLI’s all-weather lifeboats; lifeboat launching methods – including the design of specialised tractors.

If you are a member of a group that would welcome such a talk – contact John Barnett via the Branch e-mail: wuernli@gmail.com.
