Basket Weaving Workshop

place Tortworth Forest Centre Wotton-under-Edge, South Gloucestershire, GL12 8HH expand_more

Join us for a delightful day immersed in the ancient art of willow weaving at our tranquil outdoor venue nestled within an ancient arboretum. Our one-day “Introduction to Basketry” course offers a unique opportunity to learn the traditional craft of basket making, with a focus on creating your very own foraging or berry basket.

Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you will explore the fascinating techniques of willow weaving, from learning how materials are selected and prepared to mastering fundamental basketry skills. Whether you’re a complete novice or have some experience with willow, this course is designed to accommodate all skill levels.

All tools and materials provided, along with tea and cake. Just bring your own lunch and immerse yourself in nature while creating something beautiful and functional. Our bushcraft courses are a chance to meet like-minded people and unwind from everyday life surrounded by nature. Book your spot now for a memorable day of creativity and craftsmanship.

Knowledge required: Perfect for beginners or those with some experience!

Group size: 12 maximum.

Minimum age: We think this event is best suited to those 16+.

Other information: This event takes place in a stunningly tranquil, but basic, woodland venue. Our handcrafted Roundhouse offers shelter from the elements with rustic furniture around a crackling wood fire, whilst nearby you’ll find a compost loo and rainwater sink. Hot beverages and cake will be provided on this otherwise non-catered evening, but please bring your own drinking water. As there is no running water or electricity at the arboretum this is a back to basics, almost off grid experience.

Tortworth Forest Centre is a Community Interest Company, working with limited resources. Sometimes we may have to cancel or postpone courses if they are less than 50% subscribed. We try our hardest to keep courses running wherever possible. You can help us by spreading the word to friends, family and colleagues. If an event is cancelled a full refund will be offered.
