Make & Mend, situated in Long Street, Wotton-under-Edge, opened its doors in October. It’s run by Marie Benson and Helen Gough, and the shop features the work of local crafters as well as offering an alterations and repairs service.
“We sell mainly handmade products – Helen knits and I sew and there are lots of other crafts here,” explained Marie.
“We also offer a repair and alteration service for clothing, curtains, bridalwear and basic upholstery. We also sell handmade hats and gloves, scarves, cushions, aprons and children’s clothing.
“I’ve done alterations for a long time but my daughter, Claire, who has 25 years’ experience of doing alterations, is taking over now.”
Locally made jewellery, soap, wax melts, burners and bath bombs are on sale along with photo frames, greetings cards and lampshades.
“We’ll be selling seasonal things – for instance, Easter, Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day and Mother’s Day. We can make bunting for special occasions. If someone wants cushions, lampshades and a clock to match we can do that,” added Helen.
The shop is open from 9.30am to 4pm, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
For alterations call Claire on 07823 337185.
