Children at Kingswood Primary School, near Wotton-Under-Edge, took part in a special yoga session to mark Children’s Mental Health Week(3rd-9th February)

Led by local instructor ‘The Yoga Bird’, the sessionfocused on well-being, mindfulness, and relaxation, giving the pupils valuable tools to support their mental health. Through gentle stretches, breathing exercise and mindful activities the children were encouraged to develop a sense of calm and self-awareness.

The initiative is part of the school’s ongoing commitment to promoting health and well-being amongst its pupils.

Wendy Collins, Headteacher at Kingswood Primary School said:

At Kingswood Primary School, we recognise the importance of supporting our pupils’ mental health, alongside their academic learning.

Yoga is a fantastic way to help children develop coping strategies for stress and anxiety, while also promoting physical well-being.

We want to give the children the tools they need to navigate life’s challenges with confidence and resilience.”

The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities through after-school clubs, links with other local schools including Katherine Lady Berkeley’s school, class trips and sporting events.
