This year, as with previous years, Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service (GFRS) will be supporting Pride in Gloucestershire by attending nine Pride events over the next few months.

They have already attended their first Pride event this year, which took place at the Imperial Gardens in Cheltenham on Saturday 18 May. At last year’s Cheltenham Pride, GFRS received a ‘Friend of Pride’ award for their proactive approach to diversity and inclusion, which has been shown through their support for the LGBTQ+ community.

At each Pride event, the fire and rescue service crew will be visible with their Pride fire engine and will be available to provide fire safety advice. It is also a chance to ask questions to find out more about the role of a firefighter at GFRS, alongside other career opportunities.

Mark Preece (he/him), Chief Fire Officer, said: “We’re delighted to be showing our support for Pride in Gloucestershire. These events give us an opportunity to show our commitment to inclusivity and we are always keen for more people from the LGBTQ+ community to join and help make a difference to people’s lives.”

GFRS will be attending the following Pride events later this year:

  • Pride in Cirencester – Saturday 8 June
  • Wotton Pride – Saturday 15 June
  • Stroud Pride – Saturday 22 June
  • Pride in Tetbury – Saturday 6 July
  • Pride in Cinderford – Sunday 28 July
  • Pride in Tewkesbury – Saturday 17 August
  • Dursley Pride – Monday 26 August
  • Pride in Gloucestershire – Saturday 14 September
