Stroud District Council’s Brunel Mall multi storey car park, which is normally closed on Sundays, will be open from 6.30am – 9pm on Sunday 15 and Sunday 22 December.

Stroud District Council’s five other Stroud town centre car parks are all free to use every Sunday:

  • Rowcroft – 24 bays
  • Church Street – 101 bays
  • Parliament Street – 122 bays
  • Cheapside – 193 bays
  • London Road Surface (which drivers enter to access the multi storey car park) – 141 bays.

The extra spaces mean there will be 916 free car parking spaces in Stroud on the two Sundays before Christmas.

A digital display installed on the wall of the multi storey car park shows how many spaces are available inside.

SDC Leader, Cllr Catherine Braun said the council was responding to a request by Stroud and District Chamber of Trade & Commerce and the Town Council and hopes the extra car parking will encourage people to shop at local businesses in Stroud on Sundays:

“Supporting a thriving and resilient local economy is a key priority in our Council Plan,” she said.

Cllr Pete Kennedy, Deputy Leader added: “We’re working with town councils and the Chamber of Commerce to boost local businesses and help everyone enjoy everything Stroud has to offer over Christmas. Find out what’s on by visiting Discover Christmas Events in the Stroud District .”
