Gloucestershire County Council is organising a countywide programme that provides children and young people with opportunities to enjoy healthy meals and stay active and entertained during the school holidays for free.
Running from 24 October to 1 November, the programme includes activities such as sports, outdoor adventures, creative arts and crafts, community play sessions, wellbeing opportunities and other enriching experiences designed to support children and families outside of term time.
Trusted local organisations, community groups and activity providers will deliver the sessions.
There are no eligibility requirements for the inclusive initiative which remains separate from the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. All children and young people living in the county will be able benefit from support, regardless of their circumstances.
The initiative reflects Gloucestershire County Council’s commitment to supporting children, young people and families during school holidays.
Cllr Linda Cohen, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills at Gloucestershire County Council, said: “Children, young people and families should be able to access opportunities for support, enrichment and healthy food all year round, not just during term time.
This programme of activities aims to give local families a chance to try something new, socialise and pick up new skills in a safe and welcoming environment.
We would encourage families to browse the Virtual Family Hub and see what’s on offer.”
Food support and activities can be booked through Gloucestershire’s Virtual Family Hub. Booking is essential as spaces are limited. Some providers will be managing bookings through their own websites or booking systems and should be contacted directly if an activity isn’t listed on the hub.
Full details of activities, locations and booking arrangements will be published on our website in the coming weeks.
