It’s hard to imagine a Friday night at Good Times Live more ready-made for a singalong.
Kaiser Chiefs have spent more than two decades creating songs that have become part of our British indie soundtrack. “Ruby”. “Oh My God”. “Everyday I Love You Less and Less”. “Never Miss a Beat”. And a certain song about predicting a riot that we suspect might get particularly loud in Chipping Sodbury!
On Friday 28th May 2027, the Leeds icons will bring that catalogue to Good Times Live, headlining a night that also sees The Lottery Winners and The Ramona Flowers take to the stage.
More than two decades since they first emerged from Leeds, Kaiser Chiefs remain one of those rare British bands whose music seems to belong equally to packed festival fields, dance floors and car radios turned up high.
Their debut album Employment became one of the defining British records of the early 2000s, and over the years they’ve had number one albums, millions of record sales, three BRIT Awards and an Ivor Novello. They’ve toured with the likes of U2, Foo Fighters and Green Day – playing to huge audiences around the world.
Impressive? Absolutely. But none of that quite explains what happens when Kaiser Chiefs walk onto a stage.
Because these songs were made to be experienced in a crowd.
For Good Times Live, they’re exactly the kind of act the team has wanted to bring to Chipping Sodbury for years.
Festival Director James Murden explains: “Kaiser Chiefs have been high on our wish list for a long time and they’re the perfect way to kick off our 2027 music announcements. We know Friday night is going to be something really special. In fact, we predict a sellout!”
That prediction already looks fairly likely with over 60% of tickets already sold.
Following a record-breaking 2026, when more than 32,000 people joined Good Times Live across six days, the festival returns in May determined to make 2027 its biggest series of shows yet.
And Friday night isn’t relying on its headliner alone. It’s a lineup with plenty of reasons to arrive early.
The Lottery Winners, in particular, are having quite the moment. Their 2025 album KOKO went straight to number one on the UK Official Albums Chart, following their previous chart-topping album Anxiety Replacement Therapy. They’ve collaborated with artists including Frank Turner, Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger and Reverend and the Makers, built an increasingly devoted live following, and recently spent their summer playing some rather large venues as special guests on Robbie Williams’ UK stadium tour.
There’s an infectiousness to The Lottery Winners that goes well beyond their songs, too. Their live shows are funny, warm, chaotic in all the right ways and built around a genuine connection between band and audience. It’s easy to see why their following has grown so quickly – and why plenty of people heading to Good Times Live will be almost as excited to see their name on the lineup.
Then there’s The Ramona Flowers, bringing things even closer to home. The Bristol alternative indie outfit have taken their music around the world, achieving international radio success and collaborating with the legendary Nile Rodgers along the way.
And for some loyal Good Times attendees, they may look rather familiar. The Ramona Flowers first joined Good Times Live back in 2024, supporting Sophie Ellis-Bextor at the festival’s previous Yate-based venue. Three years, one new home and plenty of Good Times later, the team are really pleased to be welcoming them back to the stage.
Together, it makes Friday 28th May a night built for live music: three bands with very different stories, but a shared ability to turn an audience into part of the performance.
That has always been an important part of Good Times Live.
The artists may be accustomed to arenas and enormous festival stages, but here they arrive in a field beside the small market town of Chipping Sodbury. The scale of production is big but the setting remains unmistakably local. Community is at the heart of what makes Good Times Live so special.
Friday is only the beginning of the 2027 story. While more music announcements are still to come, the Good Times Live Comedy Gala has already been revealed, with Rob Beckett, Dara Ó Briain, Rhys James and Lou Sanders heading to Chipping Sodbury for what is already proving to be a hugely popular show.
